Artist Statement-Assignment 2

My altered space was created from photos that I manipulated. I created this series because it is very different from what I usually do, which is fashion. This series was influenced from my love of burnt houses. I wanted to make these houses have a fantasy feeling, because of the mystery of what happened to the house. Fantasy means something that is impossible, which is very true about this series. This is because how can a house ever look like how i manipulated it to be.

From creating this assignment I know have many other projects to do with this concept of manipulating houses and I can't wait to do start them either. All and all, this was very fun to create.

this is what i have so far.

Assignment 2 Concept

For this assignment I want to do more of a break down of a scene. Each individual photo that makes the picture will have different exposers,blurs, and color variations. Then on top of that I would like to alter the photos with drawings and doodles. I think I will make 2 of them...it will depend on how long my experiment one will take me and/ or go. The experiment ones will hopefully be posted on friday.

Fairy Tale Postcard

I think i'm going to do a Grimms Fairy Tale, Rapunzal.

The story starts off with a man and a woman wanting to have a child. They next to a beautiful garden that belonged to a mean witch. One day the witch planted some beautiful rampion and the women longed for them that she would die if she didn't eat some. The man didn't want his wife to die, so he went and got her some rampion. But, after eating them she wanted it more then ever, so her husband went and got her more, but this time the witch was waiting for him. The man explained why he was there and the witch made a bargain with him, rampions for his child. The man agreed and once the child was born was taken away by the witch and named her Repunzel. At 12 she was placed in to a tower in the forest. There was no way to get up besides have Rapunzel let down her hair. The Prince was riding through the forest and heard her singing and fell in love. He went one day and heard how the witch got into the tower a called for her hair. She fell in love and they created a plan to get married. But of course the witch found out and cut off her hair and took her into the desert where she was miserable. Then the witch tricked the Prince and made him blind. But he was so sad he just started to roam and finally came upon Rapunzel where she had twins. She began to cry, which gave him back his sight and they went back to the kingdom and lived happily ever after.

I think for my project I am going to make more of a collage. Which are going to be a mix of picture I have taken and magazine models. And even hand drawn images. I am going to have each important part of the story illustrated.
